The Dreaded Day

I had been dreading Ry's 2 month shots for a long time. Every time I thought about it I would ache in the pit of my stomach. But sometimes things go better than expected. Mr. Baker held baby boy's arms while the nurse gave the shots. I could feel the tears swelling in my eyes. His face turned deep red and the heart-wrenching cries started. But a tear never fell from my eyes. It all happened so fast and as soon as Mr. Baker and I bundled him up in our arms the crying was over. He knew he was safe, loved and protected.

an unwelcome week

I've been trying to avoid this week since longer than I can remember. Last night we moved baby boy from his bassinet to the pack and play. I'm glad that we are taking small steps in moving him to his crib otherwise I would be a complete mess. If it were up to me little man would stay in our room forever. But that's just weird. Unless my plan to keep him little really comes true...I'm still hoping. It was so funny seeing him this morning-all swaddled up in his cocoon he had managed to wiggle himself on the complete opposite side of the pack and play! I'm glad he did well in it even though it hurts to see him growing so fast already. I remember when he looked so tiny in his bassinet and now he fills it completely from head to toe. 

Tonight I have to leave my baby boy for the first time. I haven't left him for more than about 30-45 minutes. Stupid two night 4 hour long CPR course! Seriously, it doesn't take that long to learn CPR people! I could perform CPR on the entire class 5x in that amount of time!

And the main reason that brought me to dreading this week: Ry's 2 month shots tomorrow morning. I'm so not looking forward to this. I don't know who is going to be more upset, me or my precious little man. ugh. wish me luck.

Lately

Not a lot going on lately, mostly just hanging out with Mr. Ry man. He's pretty cool though so I don't mind. The weather has been nice so we got to enjoy a few walks together. It's good to feel the sunshine. We are looking forward to spring at the Baker residence :)

Chicken Tortilla Soup

So this is my first food post! yay! ok, it's not that exciting, but I found this recipe HERE. Dana and I went to dental hygiene school together and she has a food blog with lots of fun recipes!
Chicken Tortilla Soup
2 small chicken breasts, cooked/shredded
1 can of red beans, drained/rinsed
1 can of black beans, drained/rinsed
*Kidney and pinto beans work great as well*
1 can of corn (Any version will work)
1 can of Rotel
1 can of chicken broth
1 4oz can of green chiles
Combine all of the ingredients in a large pot and heat until warm.
We doubled the recipe and froze half so that we could enjoy it again later :)

Love Story

She grew up a country girl. A tomboy at heart. Always trying to find herself. Always searching for more.

He grew up a little differently. Moving from town to town. Longing for something significant and never settling down.

As time passed there were many hurts and heartaches. She found herself in God's hands only by His grace.

and he also did the same.
 
A state of separation now no longer parts.
These two were brought together by His crimson heart.
 
This college town kindled many things but most of all their love.
 
They had their ups and downs, but always tried to listen to the One above.
They spent some time at a distance, traveling, telling others of God's grace.
 
and after the summer was over, they were finally face to face.
He knew she was the one for him as he told her on one knee.
 
She smiled as he whispered these words he'd saved for her,

I love you, will you marry me?

These two were joined together on a cold December night,and now four years later their holding their newborn baby tight.

A Day with Fam

This weekend was filled with lots of baby talk, pizza, lounging, and laziness. The mom and sister came to spend the day with us on Saturday and of course our little man was the center of attention. The oooohs and aaaahs and sweet baby screeches bounced off the walls that day. This little boy is in for it with all these girls! Cheek pinches, kisses, and hugs all around!
