every day during nap time i find myself in the same conundrum.
to lay by your side and watch you sleep or not.
you see, watching you sleep is my favorite.
it's like watching the most beautiful picture of pure innocence and peace.
your soft smooth skin.
the rise and fall of your chest.
tiny toe and finger twitches.
the roundness of your full baby belly.
the sound of you breathing.
and the warmth of your body.
absolute heaven.
but there's dishes to do and there's laundry to fold.
so today, like most days,
i choose to join you there,
in our spot on the couch,
cuddled in your warmth,
beneath the comfort of
our favorite fuzzy blanket
and the whirring of the fan.
because one day i'll long for these moments.
so i'm bottling this one up.
the dishes will be there tomorrow.
and the laundry will have to wait.
Ah! Love this post - you really do have to cherish these moments! I can't believe how big Wyatt has gotten - it's gone by too fast. The dishes and laundry can wait - snuggle that adorable little man and memorize everything! xo.
ReplyDeleteAwww this is a beautiful post. I always hold my son when he naps! It's my favorite part of the day.
ReplyDeleteAww love this! I have been trying to put Alidia down without rocking/singing more often lately but today, event hough she is getting so good at not needing it, I needed it so I snuggled her until she was asleep and then long past as I couldn't bare to put her down. These moments will be gone too soon.
ReplyDeleteThose really are the best moments. I find myself doing the same thing most of the time.
ReplyDeleteI love your simple and sweet posts like these! Makes me SO ready to meet my little man!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful poem. Seriously, made me tear up and I don't even have a child yet, but it sure does make me excited for the day :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved this post, Hailey. Thank you for sharing!

when I had just my daughter I loved sleeping next to her...cheek to cheek....ahhhhh LOVED IT... I've add a few more to the bunch so no nap time = get as much as you can humanly get done in 1.5 hours...lol.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy it! ;)
what a beautiful baby!! Sleeping babies are so serene and precious :)
ReplyDeleteI used to watch my baby couins sleep when I babysat them (in a non-creeper way haha) since they were so cute so I can only imagine how heartbreakingly adorable it must be to watch your own baby sleep :)
xoxox
i am soo touched...soo beautiful.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up love :)
Such a beautiful poem! He's a lucky little man to have such a loving mom! Watching them sleep is THE BEST. I must have hundreds of pictures of my babies sleeping. :)
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, who wouldn't want to snuggle up to that. I would have definitely made the same decision. Can't wait to watch my baby sleep peacefully some day in the future ;)
